Skype For Business Online retires on July 31, 2021: You’ve only got five months to migrate to Teams

Business Tech Special
Microsoft has issued a reminder for Skype For Business Online customers to start migrating now to Microsoft Teams if they haven’t moved yet. As we recall, Microsoft announced the deadline last July 30, 2019 that they are only giving 2 years for Skype for Business online customers to move to Teams while they upgrade the planning process. Despite of the Covid 19 pandemic, Microsoft has worked to improve calling features and doubled down its’ new video-meeting and collaboration features since usage of Teams has grown rapidly and Skype for Business customers will be eligible for automated upgrades to Microsoft Teams. This program was designed to assist customers with the technical elements of upgrading a Skype for Business Online tenant to Teams only and customers scheduled for automated upgrades will receive notifications in both the Teams admin center, as well as the Microsoft 365 Message Center, at least three months before their upgrade date to allow time for technical and user readiness as mentioned by Microsoft.
