This is not the first time that a huge number of Facebook users’ personal information and phone numbers have been exposed online as we recall the Facebook data breach happened back in 2019. Phone numbers and personal data of hundreds of millions of Facebook users was published for free online by a user in a low-level hacking forum yesterday.
The personal data includes phone numbers, full names, location, email address, and biographical information of over 553 Million Facebook users from 106 countries. This includes 11 million users in UK, 6 million users in India and over 32 million record of users in US. Security researchers and experts warn people that the data could be used to perform social engineering attacks and took advantage by hackers to impersonate people and commit fraud.
According to Alon Gal, CTO of Cybercrime Intelligence Firm, Hudson Rock that the Facebook company haven’t addressed the new data leak yet and individuals who signed up in Facebook supposed to be treated their data with utmost respect and this breach should be handled accordingly.
