LRT 1 operations will be temporarily suspended on April 17 – 18 and April 24 – 25, 2021 (Saturday & Sunday) as announced by the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC). The purpose of the said suspension of operations is to complete the remaining maintenance and rehabilitation works that was started during the Holy Week. The maintenance covers the improvement of trains, stations and various systems including replacement of overhead catenary wires and preparations needed for the commercial use of the new Generation-4 train sets in Q4 2021.
The service schedule of LRT-1 on weekdays will still be the same: Northbound train from 4:30AM to 9:15PM and Southbound train from 4:30AM to 9:30PM. It was confirmed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) that the deployment of public utility buses will be running on Route 17 (Monumento to EDSA via Rizal Avenue/Taft Avenue) to support affected commuters during the temporary weekend shutdown. LRMC will continue to comply with IATF guidelines and enforce the health and safety protocols while performing the maintenance works during this period.
